Armed citizen patrols in New Haven CN

Posted by David Hardy · 11 June 2007 08:38 PM

Story here. Instapundit's comment: "a pack, not a herd."

Comments

The typical comments from officialdom, all amounting to "only cops can do the job right" when the cops are not doing the job right. These sound like intelligent people. I bet they can tell the difference between when deadly force is required and when it is not, and will not be waving their guns around like Barney Fife. I hope we get to hear more on this story (say, a year from now) and find out how it has turned out, and whether the mayor etc. have eaten crow yet.

Just advertising the fact that there will be armed citizens patrolling will probably make a big dent in crime; most muggers and such are cowards, preferring to assault those weaker than themselves. And like one of those commenting said, as long as they are legally carrying, all they are is citizens out for an evening stroll, which is not against the law.
