Student sends email, gets suspended

Posted by David Hardy · 13 May 2007 10:41 AM

Captain's Quarters has the interview. After the Va Tech shootings, Hamline U sent out an email offering trauma counseling to its students. [What a time we live in--crimes occur a thousand miles away, and we're offered trauma counseling because we heard of it]. A student responded with an email saying he was a licensed CCW holder, and how about letting such folks carry on campus? The university responded by suspending him during finals, and requiring s psychiatric evaluation before he could return.

"Private Liberal Arts College" in Minnesota.

Pretty much says it all, don't it?

There may be more to this story.

According to this article,
http://citypages.com/databank/28/1379/article15402.asp
there were other remarks in his email that had nothing to do with gun issues. I'm not suggesting these remarks merit psychiatric evaluation and suspension, either, but they do raise questions about what was in the rest of the email. Certainly they suggest he's a racist.

Another poster on Capn's Quarters pointed out that a peekyou search of this guy links him to a user on an internet forum who posted a fair amount of pro-nazi and anti-semitic ranting.

let's see what is in that email before jumping to conclusions that it was totally innocent.

I've seen the email. The university is wrong. Even if what you intimate were true, they are wrong.

Rights are rights. What about that don't you understand?

Troy criticized the reverse discrimination they call affirmative action as a white man you are supposed to celebrate your second class status not say anything negative. That plus being a CCW holder. Lots of interesting comments after the original article, too!

Reverse Discrimination? What is that?

Personally, I hate that term as it implies that it is somehow a deserved or retalatory discrimination if it is against whites.

According to peekyou.com, Troy Sheffler is the "promanure" poster here:

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=32970

If so, then he's a nazi wack-job.

Is this going to be the poster child for CCW?

I would like to see the full content of the emails before assuming that he's just a misunderstood critic of affirmative action.

I tried using peekyou.com on his name, and got no results, period. Are you *sure* that it turns up those results?

More to the story; go to Liberty Zone.com or War on Guns.com one or both of them have displayed the emails.

Then come back and be an apologist for a tyrannical intolerance of rights.

sorry.

you must be misspelling his name. peekyou definitely shows troy scheffler as "promanure"

and I looked at those sites and don't see the emails there. libertyzone is very disorganized and confusing, it isn't obvious where anything is. david codrea has blogged about it but I don't see where he posted the emails in full.

if you have the emails in full, particularly the second, racially-tinged email, please post it here or provide a specific link.

right now, all we can see is:
(1) according to city pages, he made some questionable remarks in his second email, complaining about racial minorities,
(2) according to peekyou, he's a virulent anti-semitic nazi who rants and raves about jewish conspiracies and thinks hitler was good and got a bad rap, and
(3) the actual emails, in full, are not available, or at least not easily so -- if they were truly innocent wouldn't they be in greater circulation by now?

sorry, nazi lunatics who issue screeds about their minority classmates and wanting to bring a gun to class are not like you and me, normal american gun owners and ccw holders. which category does he fit into? at a minimum, scheffler should clarify if he is that 'promanure' poster, and the emails at issue should be seen so we can make an informed opinion.
