Florida man narrowly loses Darwin Award

Posted by David Hardy · 18 May 2007 10:34 PM

A deadly combination: welding, an open can of gasoline, and a bunch of ammo. In fact, I doubt I'd recommend welding and an open can of gas. Or even the open can of gas.

"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is investigating the incident."

House fires and ammunition is now cause for BATF investigation? Interesting.....

I caught the tail end of a story on last nights news that would qualify for the Darwin award.

Apparently a tagger climbed a 20' chain link topped with razor wire fence surrounding a high voltage switching yard.

The story on local news showed his jeans with right leg burned off.

When ammunition burns, it doesn't "go off" like it was in a gun. It may cook off, but the result is just a *piff*. There is nothing surrounding the cartridge to contain the pressure and force it to launch the projectile. As soon as it leaves the casing, the powder can burn freely.

Movies do not equal real life.
