An Oooops moment

Michelle Malkin's HotAir is reporting a media event right out of Police Squad. CNN Anchorperson Kyra Phillips left her lapel mike live while going to the bathroom, during Pres. Bush's Katrina speech today, and the whole world got to hear about how she has to protect her brother from his "control freak" wife.

Malkin's error was in not _assuming_ that the mic was live, a thing that talent should learn on the first day.

Microphone switching is not normally done by the talent, but by the audio operator in the control room.

The CNN operating model of using tiny, overloaded technical staff strikes again.

Considering the way the sound went up after she started talking, it appears she just might have ticked off a sound man.

Bill,

It wasn't Malkin that got 'outed', it was a CNN talking head. If you go to http://www.hotair.com you can read about / hear the whole thing.

And MellB is right - the way the sound level jumps up and clears up she caught somebody's attention.

Someone noted around here that she's going to have an interesting Thanksgiving this year.
