Illegal knives, guns & explosives in China

Posted by David Hardy · 15 June 2006 06:01 PM

China is having quite a bit of a problem with illegal knives, explosives, smuggled guns and even home-made guns.

Problem is that China neither has nor releases valid crime statistics.

I found this quote to be quite impressive

"The country makes more than three billion detonators a year which are supposed to be individually stamped with unique serial numbers to ensure they are not misused."

I'd like to know more about what these detonators are specifically. The fact that they make more than 2 per person in China per year is rather awe inspiring.

China's mining industry uses a huge amount of detonators.

Fantasy: "If we could just get rid of all firearms..."
